About Me

Boota Pardesi performing on stage as a UK Bhangra legend

Im Boota Pardesi

The Passion Behind My Voice

I wanted to take a moment to share a little about my journey in music and what drives my passion for singing. Born in Punjab, India, I was introduced to the rich cultural heritage of Punjabi and Bollywood music from a young age. My family moved to England when I was still a child, and while London was my first home in the UK, I eventually settled in Birmingham in the late 1970s. It was here that I truly found my place in the UK’s thriving South Asian music scene.

Growing up, I was deeply inspired by some of the most legendary voices in Indian and Punjabi music. Bollywood icons like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Mukesh had a profound impact on me, as did Punjabi folk legends such as Kuldip Manak, Gurdas Maan, and Yamla Jatt. Their soulful melodies, distinctive vocal styles, and timeless music sparked a deep love for singing in me.

Determined to refine my vocal skills, I immersed myself in Indian classical music, learning the intricate techniques of ragas—a foundation that has enriched my understanding and mastery of this beautiful art form. Today, I am honored to be a student of Ustaad Mastan Heera, one of the UK's most respected and renowned music teachers. Under his expert guidance, I am continuously evolving as a versatile vocalist, honing my ability to perform across various genres with authenticity and depth.

My musical repertoire is vast and diverse, allowing me to cater to a wide range of audiences. Whether it's the emotional depth of Ghazals, the timeless magic of Bollywood classics, the spiritual devotion of religious hymns, or the electrifying beats of Punjabi folk and Bhangra, I take great pride in delivering performances that create unforgettable moments for my listeners.

With a deep-rooted connection to my cultural heritage and a lifelong dedication to music, I am passionate about bringing soul-stirring melodies and high-energy performances to every event. Whether you’re looking for a Punjabi singer in the UK for a wedding, a cultural event, or a special occasion, I would love to collaborate with you and make your celebration truly special.

Let’s connect and create magical musical moments together!

So it Begins

Pumping Up The World!!!

My musical career began in Birmingham, where I became part of the vibrant Pardesi Group. This was the starting point for something truly special. In 1986, Silinder and I teamed up to form Pardesi Music Machine, and together, we brought the band to the forefront of the UK Bhangra music scene.

What set us apart was our unique and dynamic sound. We weren’t just another band; we were innovators, passionate about pushing boundaries. We collaborated with some of the era’s leading musicians and embraced the cutting-edge technology of the 1980s. In fact, we were the first band in the UK Bhangra scene to incorporate music samples into our album recordings and live performances – a move that truly set us apart from other groups.

Fast forward three decades, and my love for Bhangra music remains as strong as ever. I’m still actively touring, performing both internationally and across the UK, and sharing the songs that have resonated with audiences for years. But I’m not just living in the past – I continue to create new music, available on all digital music platforms. Join me on this ongoing journey as we explore the evolving world of Bhangra music together.
